AICPA Names New VP for Media Relations

New York (Oct. 9, 2003) -- The American Institute of CPAs had tapped a global communications strategist to serve as vice president-media relations for the organization during these troubled times for the profession.

Robert Becton has worked for a variety of financial services companies throughout his career, including Moody's Investors Service, HSBC Group and J.P. Morgan & Co.

His responsibilities will include media relations, financial communications, crisis communications, and issues management. He'll oversee the Institute's P.R. efforts in New York and Washington and will be based at AICPA headquarters in New York.

"The AICPA and the accounting profession as a whole are contending with enormous communications challenges," said James O'Malley, AICPA Senior Vice president of public affairs. "Bob has an extraordinary background that encompasses virtually every communications discipline. "

Becton is a 1974 graduate of Loretto Heights College in Denver and is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute, the Public Relations Society of America and International Association of Business Communicators.
