Amerco OKs New Independent Committee

Reno, Nev. (April 23, 2003) - Four days after filing a $2.5 billion lawsuit against its former auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers, Amerco Inc. approved the creation of an independent governance committee.

Amerco, the parent of trucking-rental concern U-Haul, said the board would be co-chaired by a pair of independent members of its current board.

The new governance committee is slated also to have two outside members, one of which will be former California treasurer Thomas W. Hayes.

On April 18, the company sued PwC, claiming that its flawed audits nearly forced the company into bankruptcy.
