Aprio merges in Yeager & Boyd

Aprio LLP, a Top 100 Atlanta-based firm that recently changed its name from Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, has added Yeager & Boyd, a CPA firm based in Birmingham, Alabama.

Yeager & Boyd focuses on servicing public housing authorities and doing tax services for small businesses. The firm has performed over 2,200 audits for public housing authorities in 19 states across the U.S. over the past 40 years. As part of the deal, Yeager & Boyd's five partners and 15 staff members will now join Aprio's 400+ professionals, expanding Aprio's presence to Birmingham. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, although according to a spokesperson the transaction will move Aprio's annual revenue to $80 million for 2017.

“We are thrilled to join Aprio,” Yeager & Boyd co-founder Bobby Boyd in a statement. “Our housing authority, tax and assurance clients will benefit from a broader depth of expertise to help them continue to meet the regulatory, operational and financial challenges they face,” said. “Aprio has tremendous industry and specialty service expertise in areas such as cybersecurity, transaction advisory and tax credits and incentives that we are excited to offer to the Birmingham market.”

Aprio has been going through changes lately. In January, the firm, formerly known as Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, rebranded to Aprio (see Habif, Arogeti & Wynne rebrands as Aprio and listen to our podcast What's in a firm's name?).

“In today’s rapidly changing regulatory environment, we have strategically decided to enter the housing authority market to bolster our existing affordable housing practice,” said Aprio CEO and managing partner Richard Kopelman in a statement. “Given the current administration’s focus on less government and more privatization, the laws that benefit owners of real estate, specifically housing, are expected to change. We bring our best thinking to advise both private and government clients so they are prepared for what’s next.”
