Archipelago Retains Former SEC Chief Breeden

Chicago (June 14, 2004) - Archipelago Holdings LLC, an electronic stock market which trades in listings on the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, has hired former Securities and Exchange Commission chair Richard C. Breeden as a corporate governance consultant.

Archipelago  recently filed for a $130 million IPO.

Breeden served as SEC chair from 1989 to 1993. He founded Richard C. Breeden & Co., an advisory concern providing turnaround and strategic consulting to distressed companies.

Two years ago, he was appointed to act as corporate monitor of bankrupt telecommunications company WorldCom Inc.
