BDO Creates Position with Responsibilities for China

Paul Neubelt, previously the international liaison partner of BDO Seidman LLP in the United States, has been named chairman of the BDO China Region for BDO International.

In the newly created position, Neubelt will oversee and coordinate the development of the five BDO China member firms in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan and Hong Kong. He will also coordinate referral work between the China-based firms and other member firms of BDO International.

"This is a new and extremely important position within BDO International, and we are pleased to have a professional of Paul's caliber in this role," said Frans Samyn, chief executive of BDO International, in a statement. "The business potential in China for the clients of BDO member firms is enormous. Similarly, BDO can assist Chinese companies looking for acquisitions outside of China and seeking listings in the financial markets of the major economies."

As chairman of the region, Neubelt will coordinate member firm referrals and oversee the development of Chinese member firms, including resource sharing, training and marketing. Neubelt 64, joined BDO Seidman in 1982 as an assurance partner with a wide array of experience with international business. He has spent 13 years abroad serving as an audit partner in three different countries, and will relocate to Shanghai for the new position.
