BDO International Reports 11.4 Percent Gain in Fee Income

Brussels (Dec. 30, 2003) -- Accounting and consulting concern BDO International reported an 11.4 percent jump in global fee income to $2.668 billion for the fiscal year ended in September.

The firm said the Southern Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions were the growth leaders within the BDO global network. BDO International chief executive Frans Samyn said audit & accounting and tax work contributed the highest proportion of fee income, at 59 percent and 21 percent of the total respectively.

In August, BDO International added a new member firm in Bolivia, BDO Amengual & Asociados. The firm said it achieved significant mergers in both Russia and Chile during 2003. Last year, the worldwide network of public accounting firms reported fee income of $2.395 billion.

BDO International member firms account for a combined 23,200 partners and staff and 573 offices in 99 countries. Chicago-based member firm BDO Seidman LLP ranked 10th on Accounting Today’s 2003 Top 100 Firms list with $353 million in revenue.
