Big Four Among 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers

New York (Sept. 26, 2002) -- The nation's largest accounting firms received high marks for accommodating working moms.

Big Four firms Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers all earned spots on Working Mother magazine's 2002 list of the 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers.

To qualify, firms answered questions about their culture, employee population and policies on work/life and women's advancement and sent supporting documents such as benefits handbooks and the results of employee surveys. Companies accumulated points based on the types of benefits offered, availability and usage rates. This year, the magazine said it gave particular weight to flexible scheduling, advancement of women and time off for new parents.

This year marks the 17th year of the annual ranking, which appears in the October 2002 issue.
