New York (Sept. 24, 2003) -- The nation’s largest CPA firms earned top spots again this year on Working Mother magazine’s annual “Best Companies for Working Mothers” list for 2003.

As in years past, Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers all made the grade.

To be included on the list, each company must complete a comprehensive application, which includes questions about its culture, employee population and policies on work/life and women's advancement. The application focuses on the availability and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers overseeing them. The editors also look over benefits handbooks and the results of employee surveys.

This year, the magazine said it gave particular weight to: “flexible scheduling, because it is essential for working mothers; advancement of women, because it is critical for women in the workplace; and child-care options, because without them, parents can't work. “
