BKD buys Harper & Pearson’s financial institution practice

BKD CPAs & Advisors has acquired the financial institution practice of Houston-based Harper & Pearson Company, P.C, effective Jan. 9, 2018.

Financial terms were not disclosed. BKD, based in Springfield, Mo., ranked 12th on Accounting Today’s 2017 list of the Top 100 Firms. The firm’s fiscal year 2017 revenues were $564 million.

The acquisition expands BKD’s financial services business in Houston and other parts of Texas. BKD currently services more than 120 financial institutions across the Lone Star State. BKD is the eighth-largest accounting firm in Houston, according to the Houston Business Journal.

An unspecified number of Harper & Pearson’s staff will join BKD’s Houston office. Harper & Pearson has been operating in the Houston area for more 55 years.

“We want to extend a warm welcome to our new BKD team members,” BKD CEO Ted Dickman said in a statement. “Harper & Pearson’s commitment to client service and true expertise will help us achieve our goals as we move forward.”

BKD has 36 offices in 16 states, and also services clients internationally as the largest U.S. member of the Praxity global alliance of independent CPA firms. Harper & Pearson is part of the CPAmerica International association.
