TVIA INC. DISMISSES PWC: Tvia, a designer and marketer of semiconductor systems, has dismissed auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers and engaged BDO Seidman as its replacement.According to a federal filing, Santa Clara, Calif.-based Tvia had no disagreements with its former auditor on accounting issues, and no reason was given for the change in independent accountants.

E&Y DECLINES RE-ELECTION AS VIGNETTE AUDITOR: Big Four firm Ernst & Young declined to stand for re-election as auditor for Vignette Corp., a provider of content management software.

Vignette said that E&Y's reports on the Austin, Texas-based company's financials didn't contain an adverse opinion or a disclaimer of opinion, and weren't qualified or modified as to uncertainty, audit scope or accounting principles.

Vignette had asked five accounting firms - including Ernst - to submit proposals for audit services, according to a filing.

At press time, a successor had not been named.

DOCUCORP ENGAGES GRANT: Docucorp International Inc. has hired Grant Thornton as its new independent accountant, replacing Big Four firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The Dallas-based document management concern did not state a reason for the change in auditors.

The company said that there were no disagreements with its former auditor, and its audit reports did not contain any adverse opinions.

LANGER INC. JETTISONS DELOITTE: Foot- and skin-care products specialist Langer Inc. dismissed Big Four firm Deloitte & Touche as its auditing firm and retained BDO Seidman as its replacement.

Langer reported no disagreements with Deloitte & Touche; however, the Big Four firm had advised the company of an internal control weakness related to accounting for stock options.
