In a filing, the oil and gas exploration concern said that the decision to jettison KPMG was approved by its executive committee. FREMONT HIRES GT: Fremont General Corp., a financial services holding company for Fremont General Credit Corp., dismissed Ernst & Young as its independent accounting firm and replaced it with Grant Thornton. The decision to change auditors was approved by Fremont's audit committee. E&Y audit reports on the company's financial statements for the years ended Dec. 31, 2004 and 2005, did not contain an adverse opinion or disclaimer of opinion, and were not qualified or modified as to uncertainty, audit scope or accounting principle.

PWC RESIGNS SKYEPHARMA: Big Four firm PricewaterhouseCoopers resigned as auditor at London-based SkyePharma, a developer of specialty pharmaceuticals. The resignation stems from the lead audit partner's five-year required rotation.
