MOODY'S ENGAGES KPMG

New York-based credit rating concern Moody's Corp. has appointed Big Four firm KPMG as its auditor, replacing PricewaterhouseCoopers. KPMG will also serve as independent accountant to the company's profit-sharing plan.

In a filing, Moody's did not give a reason for the change in auditors, and reported that it had no disagreements with PwC on any matter of accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure, for 2006, 2007 and up until the end of February.

VALLEY BANCORP RETAINS KPMG

Valley National Bancorp has dismissed its auditor, Big Four firm Ernst & Young LLP, and engaged KPMG as its new independent accountant. In a filing, the Wayne, N.J. -based bank holding company reported no disagreements with its former auditor on any matters of accounting.

COMMSCOPE TAPS E&Y

CommScope Inc., a Hickory, N.C.-based manufacturer and marketer of electronic, coaxial and fiber optic cable products for data networking wireless communications and telephony, named Big Four firm Ernst & Young as its auditor.

E&Y replaces Deloitte & Touche, which was dismissed. An SEC filing said that CommScope had no disagreements with Deloitte on any matter of accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure.

CNX GAS DISMISSES PWC

CNX Gas has named Big Four firm Ernst & Young as its new independent accountant, after jettisoning PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The Pittsburgh-based supplier of natural gas said in a filing that it had no disagreements with PwC on any matter of accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosures, or auditing scope or procedure. CNX said that following the completion of its year-end reports, the company's senior vice president and chief financial officer, Mark Gibbons, left the company. At press time a successor had not yet been named.
