Change of Auditors

EARL SCHEIB DUMPS E&Y: Automotive paint and body repair specialist Earl Scheib dismissed Big Four firm Ernst & Young as its auditor, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

It subsequently hired BDO Seidman as its new independent accountant. The audit committee at Scheib had recommended the change.

Over the past two fiscal years, there were no disagreements between the company and its auditor over accounting principles or practices, financial disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure.

VANTAGEMED HIRES HURLEY & CO.: VantageMed Corp., a Rancho Cordova, Calif.-based provider of health care information systems and services, has hired the firm of Hurley & Co. as its new independent auditor, replacing incumbent Grant Thornton.

In a filing, the company reported no disagreements with Grant on any matter of accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure, and did not provide a reason for dismissing its independent accountant.

However, VantageMed said that Grant Thornton's report raised substantial doubts about its ability to continue as a going concern. VantageMed also said that it restated its 2002 financial statements.

PROFILE TECHNOLOGIES JETTISONS KPMG: Profile Technologies Inc. has severed its relationship with auditor KPMG and engaged Peterson Sullivan as its replacement.

The Big Four firm told Profile that it had found an internal control weakness related to the non-payment of interest on convertible debt, which in turn caused defaults on company notes.

Profile said that, over its last two fiscal years, the company had no disagreements with its former auditor.

CD&L AND DELOITTE PART COMPANY: CD&L Inc., a provider of same-day shipping services, dismissed Deloitte & Touche as its auditor and replaced the Big Four firm with New Jersey-based JH Cohn.

No reason was given in a federal filing for the dismissal.

CD&L said that there were no disagreements with Deloitte on any matter of accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure.
