Change of Auditors: Feb. 23 - Mar. 14, 2004

SAFEID CORP. TAPS WILLIAMS & WEBSTER: SafeID, a Las Vegas-based marketer of nutritional supplements and weight loss products, hired Williams & Webster as its new auditor, succeeding SmytheRatcliffe, according to a federal filing.

The filing did not state a reason for the change in independent accountants. SafeID and SmytheRatcliffe reported no disagreements over accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure, for the two most recent fiscal years and through Sept. 30, 2003.

 

PARALLEL PETROLEUM APPOINTS BDO: Parallel Petroleum Corp., an energy concern headquartered in Midland, Texas, named national firm BDO Seidman as its new independent accountant, according to an 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

BDO replaces Big Four firm KPMG as Parallel’s auditor. In December, KPMG resigned as auditor, citing a retirement benefits issue to a former partner now sitting on the company’s board.

 

APOLLO SELECTS DELOITTE: Education program provider Apollo Group Inc. hired Big Four firm Deloitte & Touche as its auditor after it had jettisoned Pricewaterhouse­Coopers.

According to federal filings, PwC will complete audits and attest examinations for the year ended Aug. 31, 2003, for various units of Apollo Group, including University of Phoenix Inc., Western International University and The College for Financial Planning Inc.

 

GRANT NAMED INTEGRAL AUDITOR: Grant Thornton was named auditor at Integral Systems Inc., a manufacturer of satellite ground systems. Grant succeeds Big Four firm Ernst & Young, which had served as Lanham, Md.-based Integral’s auditor for two years. According to published reports, an Integral representative said that the change in auditors was precipitated by fees.
