Avalon Digital Marketing Dismisses GT: Avalon Digital Marketing Systems Inc., a manufacturer of digital products and services for e-business, dismissed independent auditor Grant Thornton and retained Tanner & Co. as its successor.

According to an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Huntington Beach, Calif.-based company said that it did not have any disagreements with GT.

However, Avalon said that the company’s financials for the year ended Sept. 30, 2001, included an opinion that substantial doubt existed about the company’s ability to continue as an existing concern.

U.S. Dataworks Jettisons Singer Lewak: Electronic check software marketer U.S. Dataworks said that it dismissed independent auditor Singer Lewak Greenbaum & Goldstein, and hired Ham, Langston & Brezina Inc., effective last month.

According to an SEC filing, the company changed auditors following approval by its audit committee and board. The company said that there were no disagreements with Singer Lewak on any matter of accounting principles.

KPMG Resigns as Sipex Auditor: After finding weaknesses in the company’s internal controls for the years 2001 and 2002, Big Four firm KPMG resigned as auditor to Sipex Corp. last month.

A successor has not been named. However, Sipex indicated that it has begun interviewing potential replacement auditors.

During the 2002 audit, KPMG discovered deficiencies in the firm processes that are used to prepare financials, as well as insufficient management review and account analysis.

In connection with KPMG’s 2001 audit, it identified material weaknesses in credit memo processing and product returns from distributors and customers.

Consulier Engineering Parts Ways With BDO: Replacement car and truck part manufacturer and marketer Consulier Engineering dismissed BDO Seidman, according to an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company then appointed Goldstein Lewin & Co. as a replacement.

BDO Seidman’s reports on the company’s financial statements for the past two years contained no adverse opinions or disclaimers of opinions.
