Cherry Bekaert establishes new technology arm

Top 100 Firm Cherry Bekaert LLP has formed a new business unit, THIncIT LLC, tasked with providing technology-based solutions for the firm’s business clients. To help form the new arm, the firm acquired technology consulting practice The Computer Solution Co. of Virginia, Inc., which adds 30 technology professionals to the Cherry Bekaert.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

TCSC was founded in 1981 and will provide the new technology unit with services including strategic IT alignment, business applications, cloud solutions, business intelligence, collaborative workplaces, managed services and cybersecurity.

Former TCSC president David Romig will join Cherry Bekaert as a principal and take a leadership role in the new unit.

“This acquisition is part of our overall vision to expand our value-add services within the technology consulting and application development arena,” said Scott Moss, chair of the new unit and managing partner of advisory services for Cherry Bekaert, in a statement. “Our clients are demanding more innovative technology-based solutions to help them grow and the capabilities within a firm like TCSC will position us to meet these expanding needs.”

Based in Richmond, Va., Cherry Bekaert ranked No. 25 on Accounting Today’s Top 100 Firms list for 2017. The firm is an independent member of Baker Tilly International, an accountancy and business advisory network.
