Indianapolis (Aug. 26, 2002) -- CPA Robert Lazard, partner at Crowe, Chizek and Co., has been elected to the 2003 executive committee of the National Association of State Boards of Education. He will serve as NASBE's vice president effective Jan. 1, 2003.

"In this position, Bob can provide his business acumen and statewide leadership experience in Indiana for the benefit of the membership, his state board colleagues from around the country, and to the organization as a whole. Lazard is the managing executive of Crowe Chizek's Public Sector Services group, which focuses on auditing and consulting for tax-exempt organizations, including those in education. His involvement on the NASBE board began in 1999, when he was elected to serve as the board's new member representative. He served as a NASBE Central area director in 2000 and 2001 and was NASBE's treasurer in 2001.

The National Association of State Boards of Education is a not-for-profit association that represents America's state and territorial boards of education. NASBE's primary mission is to strengthen state leadership in education policymaking and assure responsible lay governance of public education.
