Davis elected FICPA president

Beryl H. "Berri" Davis, director of the Office of Audit Services and Management Support for the city of Orlando, has been elected president of the Florida Institute of CPAs.Effective July 1, she is the institute's 79th president, and the first CPA in government to lead the 18,400-member association.

A CPA since 1973, Davis became the first government CPA to chair the Florida Board of Accountancy, and is a past president of the more-than-2,000-member Florida Government Finance Officers Association. She was recognized as the Outstanding CPA in Government

in 2000 by both the American Institute of CPAs and FICPA. Since 2003, she has served as an appointee to the U.S. Comptroller General's Domestic Working Group. Davis has also been a past member of Accounting Today's annual roster of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.

Davis' theme during her tenure will be "Creating Value for Our Members."
