Dixon Odom Expands Auto Niche With Memphis Merger

Raleigh, N.C. (June 19, 2002) -- Top-ranked accounting and consulting firm Dixon Odom has expanded its auto dealership niche practice with the merger of George B. Jones Cos., a Memphis-based CPA firm that specializes in serving the dealership industry, into its fold.

The deal effectively doubles the size of Dixon Odom's auto dealership practice, which is its largest industry practice section, according to partner Kevin Dyck. "They give us more of a nationwide spread of clients and they are strong in technology and other areas of analyses," he added. "There are a lot of complementary assets they'll bring to our firm in the dealership area."

The merger, effective earlier this month, bolsters the Raleigh, N.C.-based firm's ranks to about 450 employees in 16 offices. Dixon Odom ranked 36th on Accounting Today's 2002 Top 100 Firms List with $40.8 million in revenue.

Memphis-based George B. Jones & Co., which began in 1927 as a field office for General Motors, provides accounting and consulting services exclusively to the auto dealership industry. The firm also includes sister companies George B. Jones Consulting Co., George B. Jones Dealership Sales, GBJ Lace Service Co., and GBJ AutoPeople.
