The Houston CPA Society raised $292,475 from its 21st Annual Charity Extravaganza, honoring Reed and Janet Wood. After expenses, the event netted $231,000, making it the society's most successful charity event. $179,000 will be given to 54 students majoring in accounting at eight local universities, while the other $52,000 will go to CPAs Helping Schools, which provides grants and a variety of initiatives to K-12 schools. ...
