Crowe Horwath LLP has established the Crowe Horwath Accounting Excellence Endowment to support the University of Tennessee's Department of Accounting and Information Management in its College of Business Administration. The Virginia Society of CPAs, Richmond, marked its 100th anniversary with an event at Richmond CPA Center in early October. With just 19 charter members, the VSCPA was originally established on Oct. 6, 1909, to help draft legislation that would create a regulatory body to govern the CPA profession in Virginia. The following spring, the Virginia General Assembly passed legislation to form the Virginia Board of Accountancy, making Virginia the 21st state to have such a regulatory law in place.
