In early November, close to 1,200 Ohio CPAs teamed up to play Fetch! with fifth and sixth graders in 350 schools across the state.

No tennis balls or chewed-up sticks were involved, though - this version of Fetch! was developed by the Ohio Society of CPAs and its Ohio CPA Foundation to teach children financial responsibility, as part of its larger Financial Fitness Ohio initiative.

The playing field is a large, colorful replica of a dog park where teams of students compete to buy basic necessities for their pooch while saving money for future expenses. As students wind their way around the big board, CPAs talk them through the possible consequences of their choices.

Weyrich, Cronin & Sorra CPAs & Business Advisors

Weyrich, Cronin & Sorra CPAs & Business Consultants, Lutherville, closed its doors on October 20 to perform a day of service looking after a vital natural resource. The event, coordinated with the help of Business Volunteers Unlimited, involved working with the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy to perform tree maintenance in the Loch Raven Reservoir area, including pruning, removing invasive vines, removing shelters from mature trees, and replacing shelters on smaller trees to protect them from the elements and deer. Through a partnership with BVU, WC&S employees were surveyed earlier this year to help identify their volunteer interests and plan a day of volunteerism.
