Baker Tilly donates $10K, volunteer time to 2017 'Wishes' honorees

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause announced on Tuesday a list of nonprofit organizations highlighted by the firm’s "Baker Tilly Wishes" campaign. This year's recipients include the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation, the Wounded Warrior Project and the Rape Crisis Center.

“Our people genuinely care about their communities and believe making a difference is the best gift to give,” stated Baker Tilly chief human resources officer Karleen Mussman. “We are proud and humbled to support the deserving organizations that inspire and motivate them. We are proud and humbled to support the deserving organizations that inspire and motivate them.”

The Wishes campaign is part of the firm's yearly holiday giving program, in which team members receive a gift card from the firm and are asked to donate to a charity of their choice. Staff members were also asked to nominate a cause they felt strongly about, which resulted in the three organizations chosen this year. Each organization received a $10,000 donation and up to 40 paid hours for the nominating staff member to work with the organization. Baker Tilly donated a total $100,000 via their giving program in all.

“Our team focuses year round on making a difference in our communities – and we welcome the opportunity to make these special gifts,” said Baker Tilly chairman and CEO Alan Whitman, per a statement. “The donation honors the charitable spirit of our team members by allowing them to support the causes that matter most to them.”

The holiday giving program is part of Baker Tilly's H.E.R.O (Helping Enrich Relationships through Outreach) program, which gives staff members paid time off to support nonprofits they are passionate about. For more on Baker Tilly's charitable programs, head to the firm's site here.
