GSCPA awards over $114K in 2018-19 academic scholarships

The Educational Foundation of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants has announced its scholarship recipients for the 2018-19 academic year.

Worth $1,000-$5,000 each, this year's scholarships went to 51 accounting students representing 13 universities and colleges across the state for a total of $114,200. An additional $3,000 was granted by GSCPA chapters for "institutional support."

“The Educational Foundation’s scholarships are a great way to let future Georgia CPAs know that we support their efforts now and will continue to support them in the future," stated Kelly Cranford, the scholarship committee chair. "After college, The Georgia Society will be ready to welcome the next generation’s best and brightest to our much-loved profession and membership."

Scholarship recipients were chosen based on their desire to pursue an accounting career, as well as their academic performance and achievements.

“As a former scholarship recipient and now leader of this amazing organization, I can personally attest to the impact these members are having on the future of the CPA profession and the resultant financial health of the businesses and individuals we serve,” said Kathy Moreno, president of The Educational Foundation, per a statement.
