The scholarship covers books and printed course materials. Tuition for the course is free. The curriculum includes wages and income, filing requirements, dependent exemptions and support, interest and dividends, credits and retirement, among other subjects.

The classes combine face-to-face classroom instruction with self-study learning and activities. The self-paced study combines guided study with online learning.

In the last six years, Block has awarded more than $1.8 million in scholarship funds to military spouses. Enrolling in the class is not a guarantee of employment with Block.
