H&R Block teams up with coffeehouse

H&R Block has launched a collaboration with a Kansas City coffeehouse.

The tax prep chain and The Roasterie, a coffee roaster with several locations across Kansas City, recently cut the ribbon on a shared facility in midtown Kansas City at 4231 Main St., just a few blocks from Block’s original location.

Block owns and operates the 4,000-square-foot space, which is divided between the two businesses. Three Kansas City companies designed and built the retrofitted building.

H&R Block and The Roasterie Café celebrate their collaboration on Main Street with a ribbon cutting ceremony November 30, 2017.

“This shared space brings together two great brands in an innovative design,” said Block president and CEO Jeff Jones, in a statement. “By partnering with The Roasterie, we are now offering midtown Kansas Citians a unique client experience in the heart of where they live, work and play.”

Block co-founder and honorary chairman Henry Bloch was a mentor to Roasterie founder Danny O’Neill for more than two decades.

“This is a dream come true for me, personally, and The Roasterie,” O’Neill said in a statement. “I have so much respect and admiration for what Henry and Richard did to create a global tax company that serves customers with excellence and integrity. The Roasterie’s values reflect the guidance I have been so honored to receive from Henry over the past 25 years. From this entrepreneur’s perspective, it’s been a priceless relationship that has continually elevated The Roasterie’s product and service.”
