Harte Retires From VCC

Boston (Sept. 25, 2003) -- Neal Harte, executive vice president and vice chairman of Vitale Caturano & Co. has exited the large regional firm based here to pursue opportunities in teaching and consulting.

Harte, who recently finished his three-year term as chairman of the MAP committee for the American Institute of CPAs, joined VCC when his firm — Harte, Carucci, & Driscoll — was acquired 18 months ago.

“There are a lot of opportunities for me outside the firm structure and I decided that I’d rather take advantage of that,” Harte told WebCPA.

Harte said he is currently teaching introductory accounting courses at Boston College and plans to consult with audit committees on their new responsibilities as a result of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Harte’s professional background includes stints at both Coopers & Lybrand and KPMG before opening HC&D in 1974.

“I feel I have a body of knowledge and am lucky enough to get the chance to contribute and share that with others.”
