HMWC CPAs holds team-building 'Death March' in Big Sur

Southern California firm HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors recently held its 41st annual “Death March” hike in the Big Sur region of the California coast. Firm partners, staff members, families, friends and clients attended.

The hike was started by former managing partner Gerry Herter in 1979, who saw the event as the ultimate team-building exercise.

“With the intense demands placed on members of the accounting profession nowadays, the Death March provides an enjoyable opportunity for team building amidst some of the most spectacular scenery North America has to offer,” said Herter in a statement.

The 2019 outing included a variety of hikes totaling 15 or more miles. Participants ranged from 5 to 76 years old.

Previous Death March hikes were held in Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Glacier National Park and High Sierra, among other places.
