RENEWAL TO BE REQUIRED ON SOME PFP DESIGNATIONSThe College for Financial Planning plans to implement renewal requirements for some its professional designations.

The designations that are affected are: the Foundations in Financial Planning leading to the RP designation; the Accredited Asset Management Specialist; the Accredited Wealth Management Advisor; the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor; the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist; and the Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor. The renewal requirements will entail taking 16 hours of continuing education every two years and complying with an updated ethical component.

There is already a renewal requirement for the college's flagship Certified Financial Planner designation.

NEW INSURANCE PRODUCTS DEBUT

IPro One and American Business have teamed up to offer insurance products that wealth management advisors at CPA firms can market to their clients, allowing CPA wealth management practices to offer estate-planning insurance products and client-specific plans that match the needs of high-net-worth clients.

American Business offers weekly education and training sessions for CPA firms. Under the alliance, iPro One CPA firm clients will be able to access American Business' Web-based educational library for additional insurance information and assistance.

FREE FINANCIAL LITERACY CALENDAR

The Virginia Society of CPAs is offering a free financial wall calendar for consumers, developed in partnership with the American Institute of CPAs. The 12-month Financial Fitness Calendar contains year-round money management advice, as well as important tax and financial dates, and definitions of financial terms.
