The Institute for Professionals in Taxation and the UConn School of Law have announced a partnership to present the State Income Tax Schools I & II this July in Hartford, Connecticut. The courses will offer state income taxation education for state and local tax — or SALT — professionals and give students the opportunity to study the area with leaders in the academic, legal and practice fields.
The Income Tax Schools are designed for professionals who provide state and local income tax services to their clients and employers. State Income Tax School I is meant for newer professionals, while State Income Tax School II delves more into more advanced topics.
"IPT is proud to partner with the UConn School of Law, one of the leading law schools in the country, for IPT's State Income Tax Schools I & II," stated Rick Izumi, president of IPT. "By working together, we have created programs that emphasize the development of professional analytical skills and ethical standards for state income tax professionals. Quite simply, these schools will stand above the rest."
The program was spearheaded by Richard Pomp, Alva P. Loiselle professor of law at the UConn School of Law, who helped create the schools with the IPT. Pomp will also participate in the schools, along with UConn School of Business faculty members and IPT educators.
"UConn Law School is privileged to be the new summer home of the IPT State Income Tax Schools I & II," said Pomp in a statement. "When talented students combine with the icons of the state tax bar in such a conducive environment, magic happens."
The schools will run from July 15–19, 2019, at the UConn School of Law in Hartford, Connecticut. Offsite lodging is available at the Delamar West Hartford.
