Long Island's Grassi & Co. Rejoins Moore Stephens North America

Bethesda, M.D. (July 15, 2003) -- Long Island accounting firm Grassi & Co., has decided to rejoin the Moore Stephens North America alliance of independent firms, following two years away from the network.

The 23-year-old firm, headquartered in Lake Success, N.Y., ranked #96 on Accounting Today's 2003 Top 100 firms list with $17.56 million in annual revenue. The firm offers accounting, auditing, tax and business consulting services. Its specialty businesses include Grassi Consulting, Grassi Healthcare Consulting, Grassi Wealth Management and GCM Systems IT.

“We had gone in a different direction in the firm and one of the other associations was more palatable to us at that time,” managing partner Lou Grassi said about the firm’s departure from MSNA two years ago. “I also wasn’t pleased with the prior leadership (of MSNA).

"MSNA professionals are like family, and the current leadership is what I wanted," he added. “We started with the predecessor organization in 1988 and grew up with most of  (these firms).”

Grassi said the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with other firms is the cornerstone of his relationship with the organization.

“Not long ago we were pitching an account and we only had about five clients in the industry. So we brought in one of our sister firms that had 100 industry clients to help pitch it - and we got the engagement,” Grassi said.

MSNA is part of Moore Stephens International Ltd., a network of more than 273 independent firms with 501 offices in more over 83 countries.
