Spoor Bunch Franz merges in Strawn Marshall

Details: Spoor Bunch Franz has added Strawn, Marshall, Cunningham, Condon & Sweat, the St. Petersburg-based firm’s second merger in two years.

Prior to the deal SPF had three partners and 53 staff members, while Straw Marshall had four partners and three staff members. The combined firm will have three partners, 55 professional staff and a total of 63 employees. SPF itself grew out of the merger on Jan. 1, 2016 of Spence Marston Bunch & Morris, a firm based in Clearwater, Fla., and Spoor & Associates, which was based in St. Petersburg. Both predecessor firms date back to the 1970s.

SPF opened a new office in St. Petersburg last November. The firm’s three managing partners—W.G. Spoor, Steve Bunch and Rich Franz—and the firm are actively involved in the local community. Throughout the year, SPF supported causes such as the Great American Teach-In, National Down Syndrome Society, Police Athletic League, American Heart Association’s Heart Walk, YWCA, Meals on Wheels, and Metropolitan Ministries.

“Firm values were long-established by our founders – consistently thinking about people first,” Bunch said in a statement.

Strawn, Marshall, Cunningham, Condon & Sweat has been located nearby in St. Petersburg, and the firms had known each other for years and worked together before combining. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“In this merger and with this growth we’re reinforcing a foundation to best serve our clients and our employees,” said Spoor.

SBF services both midsized local businesses in the Tampa Bay area and large national clients. “With our size, technology, and capabilities, we’re a sensible solution for our clients in New York and other large markets,” said Franz. “They receive top-tier financial expertise at Tampa Bay rates.”
