The Toronto-based Canadian arm of Grant Thornton LLP has acquired Horwich Rossiter to expand its presence in Nova Scotia. Horwich Rossiter’s two partners, Jim Horwich and Phil Rossiter, and 12 employees will join Grant Thornton.

WASHINGTON

Erin Schlichting CPA LLC and Wendy Wixson, formerly partner at VSH CPAs, have joined forces to create Schlichting Wixson PLLC.

The new combination, which went into effect on Jan. 1, 2014, offers corporate and individual tax, accounting and consulting services to privately held businesses and their owners. The firm is located in downtown Bellingham in the Bellingham Towers. All of Schlichting’s employees are expected to join Schlichting Wixson PLLC.

Wixson, who has more than 20 years of experience, will continue to focus her practice on U.S. tax implications for Canadians. She assists individuals who are transitioning their residency, family businesses expanding to the U.S., real estate developers and investors structuring their projects, and foreign entertainers planning their U.S. tours and managing their federal and state tax obligations.

Schlichting, who has more than 25 years of experience, will continue to serve her clients with business, personal and estate taxation planning. Schlichting helps businesses and individuals wiith tax planning and also prepares financial statements.
