Details: UHY Advisors has acquired Step3 Consulting, a provider of performance improvement services for companies in various industries. The two firms have been working together for three years. Terms were not disclosed.

Mowery & Schoenfeld merges in Katch Tyson

Details: Lincolnshire-based Mowery & Schoenfeld combined with Northfield-based Katch, Tyson & Co. on Aug. 1, creating a combined staff of 40. M&A consulting firm Accounting Transition Advisors helped arrange the deal.

Berry Dunn McNeil & Parker sells unit

Details: The Portland firm has sold its retirement plan third-party administration practice unit to Downeast Pension Services of New Gloucester. Berry Dunn will continue to provide retirement plan brokerage services, investment advice and employment education.

cbiz acquires employee benefits firm

Details: cbiz has acquired Manasquan-based EAO Consultants, an employee benefits firm also known as Egan, Amato & O'Connor, expanding the accounting provider's benefits-consulting expertise in the Northeast. EAO recorded $2.9 million in revenue during the past 12 months.

Bechtel Kopin partners part ways

Details: Partners at Amherst-based Bechtel Kopin & Co. CPA PC have parted company, with the firm splitting into two businesses. The original firm will be renamed Kopin & Co., with Marion Kopin in charge. Former partners Christopher Bechtel and Joanne Wasinger have set up a separate firm, Bechtel & Wasinger, in Williamsville.

CINCINNATI

Plante & Moran merges in Jackson, Rolfes, Spurgeon & Co.

Details: Top 100 Firm Plante & Moran gained a Cincinnati presence by merging in Jackson Rolfes, adding its five partners and estimated $6-$7 million in annual revenue. The firms have been talking about a merger for about five or six years.
