Metzler Leaves Buffalo Firm

Buffalo, N.Y. (Aug. 12, 2002) -- Jim Metzler, chairman of the AICPA's technology committee and partner at Buffalo firm Gaines, Metzler & Kriner, has left the firm to concentrate on business consulting.

Metzler spent 32 years at the firm, 24 years as partner, and founded the firm’s Gemko Information Group, which sells Navision products.

Metzler said his departure has been planned for over a year, and he will concentrate his time now on Convergence Coaching, the business consulting company he runs with Jennifer Wilson.

"I love public practice and I love the firm, but it’s been 32 years," Metzler told the Electronic Accountant. "Over the past couple of years, I’ve found new and exciting things in the accounting profession like coaching firms, niche building, and teaching firms how to build successful IT practices. It’s the next evolution."
