Mize, Houser & Co., Cobler Consulting, Merge

Topeka, Kan. (Jan. 29, 2003) -- Regional Kansas CPA firms Mize, Houser & Co. and Cobler Consulting have merged their practices.

Terms were not disclosed. The firm will operate under the brand Mize, Houser & Co.

Prior to the consolidation, Mize, Houser, which has carved out a strong niche in IT services, had 11 partners and generated $11.3 million in revenues in 2002. The combined entity will now have 160 employees.

Founded in 1962, Cobler Consulting provides roughly 600 franchisees of McDonald’s with accounting, tax and valuation services. It has offices in Merriam, Kansas and Tucson, Ariz.

Cobler’s three partners -- Carol Applehanz, Linda Hauschild, and Rick Robinson -- are now shareholders of Mize, Houser.

The two forms forged a technology alliance one year ago developing the proprietary EZ Access, where Cobler’s McDonald’s clients could outsource payroll, bill payment and financial reporting functions to Cobler, as well as gain access to that information online in an ASP hosted by Mize, Houser.
