New Clients Inc., a national marketing and consulting firm that caters to accountants, has signed a deal to provide practice development training to all new franchisees for Athens, Ga.-based accounting services provider Padgett Business Services.

"The focus of our training will be on how these offices can get new clients quickly and build a broad base," said Bruce Clark, NCI founder and chief executive.

As part of the agreement, NCI is guaranteeing each new franchise $30,000 in annual billing during their first year.

Clark said that the relationship came about as a result of NCI working with a number of Padgett franchises. "We successfully trained a number of franchises over the years, and recently one of their franchisees from Milwaukee, Wis., suggested Padgett talk to us about our marketing techniques for accountants," Clark said.

Clark said that he and Roger Harris, Padgett's president, met in December and began structuring an agreement whereby NCI would partake in two-and-a-half days of the two-week training that Padgett provides to all new offices.

Padgett provides financial reporting and tax consulting services to independent business owners throughout North America. The firm ranked No. 39 on the 2004 Accounting Today Top 100 Firms list with revenue of $38.5 million.
