San Diego, Calif. - In a bid to give small business owners access to the kind of real-time information that Fortune 500 executives rely on to run their businesses, Oracle Small Business Suite has launched a new edition focusing on an "executive dashboard."
The dashboard is actually a Web page highlighting all of a company’s real-time business information, such as sales, cash levels, receivables and payables, inventory levels, leads and support cases. The dashboard can be customized for each business, and the information can be viewed in a graphical or chart format.
"An issue for small business owners is that it’s painful to get at the information they need to run their businesses," company spokesman Jim LaBelle said "Executive Dashboard makes it simple and easy."
The company is also launching a new value-added reseller program to fulfill a marketplace need to have consultants help implement and train companies on how to use the software.
LaBelle said he expected to have 100 VARs trained and certified by the end of 2002, with about one-third of those coming from the ranks of accounting professionals. Certified VARs will get a 30 percent discount on the software.
"Some of our customers are very tech-savvy and don’t need help with implementation and customization, but there are others who are looking for local solutions providers to handle this kind of work at their location," LaBelle said.
"We see the new VAR program as a complementary way to meet a need that customers are asking for," LaBelle added.
