PCAOB Names Clark as Risk Director

Washington (July 19, 2004) -- The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board named CPA Richard D. Clark as its director at the Office of Financial Analysis and Risk Assessment.

Clark, 63, a retired captain of Naval Reserve Intelligence and a former special agent with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service, comes to the oversight body with a 27-year background in forensic accounting.

The board explained that its Financial Analysis and Risk Assessment office would “collect, assimilate and analyze information from multiple sources and provide assessments of risk and related insights.” The office will work closely with the PCAOB’s registration, inspections and enforcement programs.

In a statement, PCAOB Chairman William J. McDonough said Clark’s experience, “combined with his ability to manage and organize large amounts of information for the purpose of assessing risk, makes him a unique and valuable addition to the PCAOB team.”
