Profitability of Accounting Practices to be Probed

Fort Worth, Texas (Oct. 31, 2003) -- How profitable are accounting firms nationwide? The CPA Management of Accounting Practice Institute aims to find out by analyzing results from its recent survey to focus in on the profitability issue.

The Fort Worth chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs is hosting the CPA Management of Accounting Practice Institute with a special presentation by Jim Metzler, vice president, small firm interests at the American Institute of CPAs.

"Our attendees will find out who's making money in independent public accounting practice, and how," said event chairwoman Allyson B. Turner. "The survey profiles 'top performing' firms based on earnings per owner, so we're confident that we will get some benchmarks for profitability."

The rest of the day will be spent on breakout sessions looking at how to improve those benchmarks through marketing, use of technology, staffing and compensation arrangements and pricing.

The 2003 PCPS/TSCP National MAP survey is a join project of PCPS, the AICPA Alliance for CPA Firms, and the TSCPA. More information on the survey is available at www.pcps.org.
