QuickBooks Online Accountant gets new features

Intuit has made enhancements to its QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) software, based on customer feedback.

First, users will soon be able to open multiple tabs in the QBO Desktop app, which allows users to access their account directly from their desktop without opening a browser. In the coming weeks, an accountant will also be able to work on multiple clients and tasks at once by opening them in different tabs and windows, without losing work on any single task.

QBOA users can now search by a team member’s name or job title from the “team” tab, a feature much requested by larger firms. This is meant to facilitate finding the status of jobs and tasks assigned to employees within a firm.

QBOA now offers an expanded list of “services provided” for ProAdvisor profiles. Previously, there was a range of 14 possible options, but now there are almost 40. With this feature, certified ProAdvisors can better highlight the services they offer in their Find-a-ProAdvisor listing.

Finally, QuickBooks Self-Employed specialty training is now available as part of the revamped QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program training and certification. QuickBooks Self-Employed training is the first offering through the new program.

In other QBOA news, the software has just launched in South Africa.

“South Africa is our top focus for two reasons,” stated Rich Preece, global leader of the Intuit QuickBooks Accountant business. “First, there is a significant opportunity for accountants to grow their practices as South Africa experiences immense growth within the small business sector. Second, we have a well-established, existing local alliance with EasyBiz, who is just as committed as we are to supporting new and existing accounting professionals with the right tools to help them meet the needs of small businesses.”
