RSM US Foundation gifts $250K to Iowa State University

Top 5 Firm RSM US announced this week that the RSM US Foundation is gifting Iowa State University with $250,000 to endow the "RSM Fellowship in Accounting" to the school's Department of Accounting. RSM announced the donation at a September 28 visit to Iowa State's College of Business.

“As the university that educates more Iowans than anyone else, Iowa State has become a core campus for us to discover talent that is committed to being part of the largest firm in the world committed to serving the middle market," stated Kevin Prien, regional managing partner for RSM’s Central Region and an Iowa State alumnus. "We continue to find motivated, intelligent, caring students who share our values and our commitment to our clients, our people and our communities.”

The donation is a result of contributions from RSM partners, principals, and staff who are Iowa State alumni, in addition to donations from the RSM US Foundation.

“We are extremely grateful to RSM for supporting our accounting department,” stated Raisbeck Endowed dean David Spalding. “This gift will allow the college to create an endowed faculty position to support the department of accounting. This type of funding is critical for us to have high quality, internationally-recognized faculty so our students learn from the best.”

“Stewardship is a cornerstone upon which RSM was built,” said Doug Opheim, chief financial officer with RSM US and chairman of the board for the RSM US Foundation, per a statement. “It is our privilege to support Iowa State with this gift. It’s one of the ways the RSM US Foundation and RSM people support the communities where we all live and work, while contributing to the development of tomorrow’s middle market business leaders.”
