Software Vendor BusinessVision Closes Biggest Deal

San Rafael, Calif. (Feb. 14, 2003) -- Softline BusinessVision, an accounting software vendor in a major effort to gain United States market share and recruit resellers, has closed it largest U.S. deal - an estimated $100,000-plus engagement for an international nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C.

The deal, which could entail another $50,000 in service work, calls for the implementation of 57 packages of the company’s BusinessVision 32 accounting and business management suite at locations in 50 countries. BusinessVision officials disclosed the deal here at the annual partners’ conference of their software company affiliate Softline Accountmate. Both companies are part of South African-based Softline Ltd.

The sale and engagement are being handled by ICON, a Business Vision reseller in McClean, Va., working on a referral from a CPA firm. The customer will use the software primarily to mange its distribution of goods worldwide, while it uses separate software for its organization-wide "fund" accounting work.

BusinessVision officials declined to identify the CPA firm or the customer, and did not verify the estimates of the value of the deal. However, sales vice president Michael DeBarros commented, "This puts BusinessVision on the map in the United States. We hope it will be a flagship account for us."
