Some Returns To Be Filed At Different Locations

Washington (August 13, 2002) -- The reassignment of workloads at the various Internal Revenue Service processing centers will result in some taxpayers filing their tax returns at different locations next year.Because many tax professionals will need the addresses to these locations before tax season begins, the IRS has listed the centers to be used for tax year 2002 returns that will be filed during the 2003 filing season.

Practitioners can access the list at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-news/ir-02-92.pdf.

For those who file paper returns, the new center addresses will be provided on the envelopes in the tax packages. Taxpayers who e-file will not be affected by these changes for paper returns.
