SOCIUS BUYS CONSULTING FIRM: Midwest business and technology consulting firm Socius has acquired BC Technology Ltd., the consulting division of Bruner-Cox LLP.Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Socius will take on BC Technology's consultants and more than 250 clients, the majority of whom operate in the manufacturing and distribution industries. Socius will provide a range of services related to its enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management solutions, including annual system reviews, training, technology updates and overall performance enhancements.

BC Technology is a subsidiary of Bruner-Cox, a regional accounting and consulting firm in northeastern Ohio. The division specializes in business management, customer relationship management, e-business, office applications, hardware infrastructure and other applications.

The acquisition will allow Bruner-Cox to focus on its core accounting and consulting services, while Socius, a leading provider of technology-based solutions, will now provide technology consulting services for the firm's clients.

NETSUITE TRIES TO LURE MS RESELLERS: In an effort to spin Microsoft resellers into NetSuite solution providers, NetSuite, an on-demand business applications provider, is offering discounts, free training and higher margins for qualified Microsoft resellers to sell NetSuite products.

NetSuite is offering MS resellers a 35 percent margin on sales of NetSuite products, a 50 percent discount on NetSuite for internal use, and free sales training for up to five people. The resellers don't need to stop selling Microsoft products to join the program.

At press time, five MS resellers had signed up with NetSuite as part of the discounted provider program: Nolan Computers, a Great Plains reseller located in Fleet, Hampshire, the U.K.; Altico Advisors, a Marlborough, Mass.-based mid-market business consulting and software implementation group; Premier Computing Technologies, a Great Plains reseller in Salt Lake City; Roux Business Systems LLC, a consulting firm based in Baton Rouge, La.; and VAR2 LLC, a Beaverton, Ore.-based Microsoft Solomon reseller.

ORRTAX APPOINTS VAUGHN AS VP OF SALES: Orrtax Software Solutions has appointed Daniel Vaughn as vice president of sales. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing sales strategies and overseeing all activities of Orrtax's Bellevue, Wash., and Houston-based sales departments.

With a 20-year background in sales and management, Vaughn was most recently with Aventeon, a mobile application software developer, where he was responsible for the company's start-up operation of sales and marketing within the U.S. He was also instrumental in building the field sales and engineering teams for Packeteer, which eventually launched an IPO in 1999.

CLARK JOINS MOVARIS AS VP: Movaris, a San Jose, Calif.-based provider of compliance and risk management solutions, has named Theresa Clark vice president of finance transformation.

A CPA, Clark brings more than 18 years of financial and systems integration expertise to the company. Before joining Movaris, she served as an executive for DecisionPoint Software, where she worked with sales, marketing and development in articulating the requirements and values of data integration for finance. Previously, she was a national director at former Big Five firm Andersen, where she led projects in finance transformation, financial close improvement and post-merger integration for major companies across industries in North America and Europe.
