UHY participates in annual 'Sleep Out'

A small team from UHY Advisors recently participated in the Covenant House Michigan Young Professionals Sleep Out last week, benefiting homeless youth in the Detroit area.

Firm staff members Suzanne Al-Jawadi, Diane Burek, Lisa Gjocaj and Hailee Johnson slept outside in cardboard boxes on the Covenant House campus — with temperatures as low as 25 degrees — to benefit Covenant House Michigan, where Burek serves as a founding board member. The event raised approximately $70,000 for homeless youth this year.

UHY Advisors CEO Tony Frabotta also volunteered to match contributions from a previous UHY-sponsored "Jean Day," in addition to Burek’s own match, making UHY's contribution to the event over $5,000.

“I am always amazed at the spirit of giving exhibited by our staff both monetary and in participation," Frabotta told Accounting Today. "Especially for Diane, Hailee, Lisa and Suzanne who endured the cold winter night in support of such a great cause."
