Richmond (April 9, 2003) - Following close on the heels of a similar announcement by the Pennsylvania Society of CPAs, the Virginia Society of CPAs announced Tuesday that it is offering free tax help to Virginia-based members of the military and other support personnel now serving in a combat zone.

Through a statewide public service program, Virginia Military Tax Help, CPA members of the society will help qualified military families file extensions and provide other tax help as needed.

"The Virginia Society of CPAs and our CPA members are honored to offer this valuable public service to our dedicated military personnel and their families," said Thomas M. Berry Jr., CAE, VSCPA President & CEO. "Reaching out to the community is an integral part of the CPA profession and we want to help our U.S. armed services in every way we can -- especially providing free tax advice during this crucial time."

More information and an online sign-up form on the program can be found at www.VATaxHelp.com.
