Wanted: Untarnished Chairman for Accounting Oversight Board

The Securities and Exchange Commission posted a job description this week and said it’s accepting nominees for the post of chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, a position that has been vacant since the resignation of William Webster in November.

New SEC chairman William Donaldson, as well as the regulator’s commissioners and staff, will look at candidates from the political, financial and academic communities. Donaldson, who was confirmed last month, said one of his first priorities in his new post would be to name a PCAOB chair.

Applications will be accepted until March 14, but a final candidate is not expected to be chosen until sometime in April.
