The group works to ensure that corporate taxpayers are represented on state tax issues often spanning a number of jurisdictions.

* Federation of Tax Administrators - www.taxadmin.org/

A good place to start for state and local tax information. Helpful tax documents, surveys, tax rates and much more.

* Multistate Tax Commission - www.mtc.gov/

The MTC brings together the top tax administrators from its member states to work out tax issues that affect them individually and in terms of interstate commerce.

* NASBA - www.nasba.org

The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy has a vast amount of interstate information available, on everything from licensure, the UAA, qualified CPE providers and much, much more.

* National Conference of State Legislatures - www.ncsl.org

This bipartisan group offers research and technical assistance to state policymakers, as well as a forum for them to exchange ideas on everything from agriculture to transportation - with financial services and taxes somewhere in between.

* SSTP - www.streamlinedsalestax.org/

The online headquarters of the Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board, which is seeking to rationalize the interstate collection of sales and use taxes, is a good place to keep up with the SSTP's state-by-state progress.
