Accounting Students to Square Off in Long Island

Senior accounting majors at four colleges in Long Island, New York are gearing up to show their skills at a quiz-show style event on March 25, knowing that whichever school wins will have bragging rights for the remainder of the year.

Sponsored by Margolin, Winer & Evens LLP, the first annual "College Accounting Challenge" will pit four teams of four representing C.W. Post, Adelphi University, Hofstra University and SUNY at Old Westbury. Drew Scott, News 12 Long Island's weekend anchor and senior correspondent will serve as host, posing the accounting questions.

"We are particularly excited about holding this event during a period of unprecedented economic uncertainty," said Teddy Selinger, managing partner at Margolin, Winer & Evens. "Through this challenge, we hope to place the spotlight on the accounting profession and the importance of following sound accounting and economic principles. And, of course, we love a good competition involving bright young people."

The winning school will receive a commemorative award and each team member will win a new Amazon Kindle2 e-book. Viewing of the competition, which is March 25 from 10:30 to 12:30 a.m. at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University's Hillwood Commons Lecture Hall, is free and open to the public.
